My father loves popcorn with lots of salt and butter. I For his birthday, my sister organized a popcorn tasting. She delivered (or mailed) the same flavor popcorn to 5 houses allowing many people to participate in the tasting.
The tasting was not ‘blind’. A variety was selected and we’d take a few pieces, pop it into our mouths, chew and decide what we thought about it. Did we like it? Was it too buttery? salty? sweet? How did it smell? How was the color?
Some of these flavors were a bit more uncommon. It was a lot of fun to watch faces when testing the popcorn. The reactions to some of the smells when the bag was opened or the faces made when tasting some were hysterical.

At the end, we all selected our favorite and our least favorite and held them up. For the most part, people seemed to be more ‘traditional’. My least favorite was the Skinny Pop Kettle Corn Sweet Vanilla and my favorite was a tie of the Orville Redenbcher’s Lightly Salted popcorn (traditional) and the Reece’s for something a bit different.
